HIKING CLUB

Dogs being dogs! Running, sniffing, playing, off leash and in the outdoors; with good friends, tasty snacks and a watchful eye. The hiking club offers a combination of off leash exercise, supervised social interactions and basic obedience practice.

We pick up your dog from home and together with a small group of doggy friends they will enjoy 1.5 to 2 hours of off leash adventuring in a variety of dog-friendly locations around the Comox Valley. We practice loose leash walking, waiting turns, polite taking of rewards, stays, recalls and responsible trail etiquette.

At the end of each hike, your dog will be dropped off at your home with their paws wiped and will soon be fast asleep dreaming of their next adventure. You can relax knowing that your dog is being well cared for, their exercise and social needs are being met and their manners well maintained.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Whether you want to get off to a good start with your new puppy, improve your adolescent dogs off leash skills or work on your dogs leash reactivity, we can help.

We will use management strategies and equipment changes to get you some immediate improvements, while we train new desired behaviours and reduce the problem ones.

Private lessons are best for those wanting to be involved in their dogs training and who are able to commit to the process. Behaviour change takes time and so we offer packages of lessons to better ensure your success. They can take place at your home, a local park or at a dedicated dog training space, depending on your particular goals.

Common topics include:

  • New Puppy - house, crate and chew training, plus socialization

  • The Basics - sit, down, stay

  • Polite Greetings - not jumping, mouthing or barking

  • Leash Skills - not pulling or reacting to environmental triggers

  • Life Skills - settling at home, travelling in a vehicle, visiting cafes and public spaces

  • Off Leash Skills - a reliable recall away from common distractions

  • Breed Specific Needs - exercise, chewing, digging, hunting, herding

  • Play Skills - cooperative fetch and tug games
